Accidents Reported in Southern California

Woman Drives Car into Group of 100 Cyclists, Leaving Some Injured

Posted on Jun 22, 2011

A woman was taken into custody on June 16, 2011 after her vehicle jumped a curb going 60 miles per hour and struck a group of roughly 100 late-night bicycle riders, according to the Contra Costa Times.
After the Culver City accident, many of the bicycle accident injury victims were taken to different area hospitals. Apparently, 11 riders were injured, with at least one in critical condition.

Christine Elizabeth Dahab, the 27-year-old driver, is suspected of driving under the influence. According to a Los Angeles police officer, she was given a blood-alcohol test. However, her blood alcohol level at the time of the crash remains uncertain.

The accident occurred shortly before 2 a.m. at the 5900 block of West Jefferson Place, where the cyclists had stopped. The cycling expedition had been organized by Midnight Ridazz, an urban cycling website.
