A Whittier car accident involving three vehicles sends one woman to a local hospital. The incident took place at approximately 9:00 AM on Wednesday morning, December 8, 2010, at the intersection of Pickering Avenue and Broadway Avenue.
According to Whittier police Lt. Carlos Solorza, a vehicle traveling northbound on Pickering Avenue ran a red light and slammed into a sport utility vehicle (SUV) which was traveling eastbound on Broadway Avenue. The force of the impact caused the SUV to spin into a third vehicle that was traveling westbound on Broadway.
An unidentified woman believed to be in her 30s was transported to a local hospital where she was treated for injuries sustained in the accident. Officials indicate that the female victim is in stable condition.
It was unclear as to whether anyone else was injured in the three-vehicle crash. However, police and fire officials said they were shocked that the injuries were not more extensive based on the wreckage.
The Whittier car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. There were no arrests or citations immediately issued.
