According to FoxNews.com, a recent study published by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety found that the drivers of SUVs are 50% more likely to make it out of a car accident alive.
The study analyzed fatality rates of auto accidents from across the country that occurred between 2006 and 2009.
Researchers believe that SUV drivers are more likely to survive because of electronic stability control, which prevents typically top-heavy SUVs from rolling over after a collision. The high roofs also prevent passengers from hitting the ceiling in a car accident.
