A LAPD police vehicle was involved in a Sun Valley motorcycle accident as hundreds of bikers cruised through the area over the weekend. The incident took place at approximately 2:00 PM on Sunday, February 19, 2012, at Stonehurst Avenue and Sunland Boulevard.
According to reports, a police cruiser collided with a motorcyclist who was part of a group of hundreds of bikers. Though the incident was originally reported as taking place in Sunland, it actually occurred at the intersection of Stonehurst Avenue and Sunland Boulevard in Sun Valley.
“It was a police vehicle and a motorcycle,” said Officer Karen Rayner of the LAPD. “The officers on scene put out several help calls because it was a group of hundreds of motorcyclists.”
Los Angeles fire paramedics were dispatched to the accident scene. However, it was unclear as to whether or not anyone was injured in the accident. The identity of the officer and motorcyclist was not immediately made known.
The Sun Valley motorcycle accident remains under investigation by local authorities. There was no immediate indication as to how the accident occurred or who may have been at fault.
This is an unfortunate incident, and we hope no one was seriously injured as a result of the crash.
