Simi Valley Car Accident Claims the Life of Local Man

A Simi Valley car accident involving a single vehicle claims the life of a local man after the vehicle he was traveling in slammed into a block wall and a fire hydrant. The incident took place at approximately 1:15 AM on Tuesday morning, December 7, 2010, near Erringer Road and Alamo Street.

According to Simi Valley police, William Carrott, 31, of Simi Valley, was riding in the passenger’s seat of a black 2007 Nissan Altima when the driver, traveling westbound on Alamo Street, drove through the “T” intersection of Erringer Road and onto the driveway of the Canyon Club Villas townhome complex.

The vehicle drove over a fire hydrant, shearing off the hydrant at its base, and into a block wall. The Altima finally came to a stop at the exit gate of the townhome complex.

A member of the Ventura County Fire Department pronounced Mr. Carrott dead at the scene of the accident.

The driver of the Altima has been identified as West Los Angeles resident Kenny Perez. He was taken to a nearby hospital and treated for a minor head injury.

The fatal Simi Valley car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police determined that Mr. Perez was driving under the influence of alcohol and charged him for gross vehicular manslaughter.
