San Pedro Car Accident Ends With Car Wedged Between Two Houses

A San Pedro car accident involving an alleged underage drunk driver ends with the driver’s car wedged between two homes. The incident took place at approximately 1:15 AM on Sunday morning, December 12, 2010, in the 1400 block of West 17th Street.

According to reports, an 18-year-old driver of a Ford Fusion ran a stop sign at the intersection of 17th Street and Weymouth Avenue, spun out of control and slammed into a curb. The vehicle finally came to a stop after running through a fence wedged between two homes, approximately 5ft above the ground. Police indicate that the unidentified driver never hit the brakes.

Fortunately, neither the driver or his passenger was seriously hurt in the single-vehicle crash.

One of the homes was vacant at the time of the incident. However, the second home was being occupied by Monica Allen and her husband when the car slammed through her living room wall. She said that she thought they were experiencing an earthquake.

The San Pedro accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Police arrested the driver on suspicion of drunk driving.
