Riverside County Car Accident Claims Life of 11-Year-Old Boy

A Riverside County car accident involving four vehicles claims the life of an 11-year-old boy and leaves his younger sister hospitalized. The incident took place at approximately 10:30 AM on Tuesday morning, December 28, 2010, along the I-15, north of the 60.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred in an unincorporated area of Riverside County when the driver of a 2006 Ford F150 pickup truck failed to see that traffic ahead of him was slowing down. That is when the truck, driven by David Rudder, 53, of Santa Ana, rear-ended a 2000 Toyota Camry.

The force of the impact sent the 2000 Camry, driven by Erick Archila, 36, of Orange, into the back of a 2005 Camry. The 2005 Camry then hit the back of a 2005 Suzuki Forenza, driven by Peter Dahlen, 49, of Huntington Beach.

Rescue crews transported Archila’s 11-year-old son to Loma Linda University Center where he lost his life due to injuries sustained in the accident. Archila’s 8-year-old sister was also taken to the same hospital where she was treated for major injuries.

The 30-year-old mother was taken to Riverside Community Hospital where she was also treated for major injuries.

The driver of the Forenza, Mr. Rudder, was treated for minor injuries at Corona Regional Medical Center.

The Riverside County accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
