The Associated Press and CBS News reported that actress Reese Witherspoon sustained injuries from a Santa Monica pedestrian accident earlier this month, after she was struck while crossing the road at an unmarked crosswalk.
Witherspoon was jogging across the street in Santa Monica when she was hit by an 84-year-old woman traveling at a speed of approximately 20 mph, according to police.
The elderly woman was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian in a crosswalk, and Witherspoon ended up with lacerations and a black eye.
Pedestrian accidents have the potential to be fatal, which is why drivers must always be on the lookout for runners, walkers, and bikers - especially near crosswalks.
