A Point Mugu car accident involving two vehicles leaves both drivers injured after their vehicles collide head-on. The incident took place on Friday afternoon, January 28, 2011, along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a northbound vehicle driven by Elaheh Ardesh, 30, of Tarzana, collided with a southbound vehicle along PCH, near Point Mugu. The driver of the southbound vehicle has been identified as a 49-year-old Ojai man.
Witnesses reported seeing Ms. Ardesh’s car driving up to 90 mph and illegally passing over the double-yellow lines. She was also seen entering the two-way left-turn lane to pass other vehicles.
Rescue crews airlifted Ms. Ardesh to Ventura County Medical Center where she was treated for abrasions to her face and swelling. She is expected to make a full recovery.
The second driver was seen out of his vehicle when officials arrived on the scene. He complained of back pain and pain in his left knee, but did not require hospitalization.
The Point Mugu auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. CHP Officer Craig Williams indicated that alcohol did not appear to be a factor in the two-vehicle wreck. However, the CHP may seek reckless driving charges against Ms. Ardesh.
This is an unfortunate incident and we wish both victims a speedy recovery during this difficult time.
