A Moreno Valley motorcycle accident claims the life of a motorcyclist after his bike is struck by a car that crossed over the double yellow lines and into the path of the rider. The incident took place at approximately 1:00 PM on Saturday afternoon, August 28, 2010, along Highway 60.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Stephanie A. Clation, 38, of Moreno Valley was traveling along Highway 60 in the No. 1 lane, just east of Day Street, in a 1999 Daewoo Leganza when the incident occurred. Reports indicate that Clation crossed the double yellow lines into the carpool lane when traffic started to slow. Unfortunately, she crossed into the path of a 1990 Harley Davidson.
The motorcycle struck the Daewoo ejecting the rider, Albert Jackson Welch, 59, of Moreno Valley, onto the highway. Rescue crews transported Welch to Riverside County Regional Medical Center. He was pronounced dead approximately one hour after the crash took place.
The fatal Moreno Valley motorcycle crash is still under investigation by local authorities. Though, Clation was released at the scene of the accident, she could still face criminal charges, according to CHP spokesperson Sylvia Vargas.
This is a terrible accident and our thoughts and condolences go out to Mr. Welch’s family and friends during this difficult time.
