A Malibu car accident involving two vehicles claims the lives of two people and leaves another critically injured. The incident took place at approximately 1:00 AM on Friday morning, July 16, 2010, along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).
According to a witness, a Saturn was seen driving the wrong way on the westbound side of PCH when it slammed into a Mustang driving in the other direction. The force of the impact caused the Saturn to burst into flames.
According to Lt. Andy Rosso, the drivers of both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Rescue crews transported a passenger in the Mustang via helicopter to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where he was listed in critical condition.
Officials believe that the occupants of the Saturn may be current or former members of the U.S. military and believe that they were assigned to a Naval Base Ventura County near Port Hueneme.
The fatal Malibu auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Details have not been made available as to why the Saturn was traveling in the wrong direction.
This is an unfortunate accident and we extend our thoughts and condolences to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
