A Lynwood car accident involving a parked Los Angeles County fire engine claims the life of a man after his car slams into the back of the fire engine. The incident took place early on Sunday morning, September 3, 2010, along the 105 Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), a 2011 Toyota slammed into the rear of a parked Los Angeles County fire engine in the third eastbound lane of the 105 Freeway. The fire engine was stopped and was responding to a car fire when the incident occurred.
The driver has been identified as 49-year-old Delaron Hines. Rescue crews transported Hines to St. Francis Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the fatal crash.
According to the CHP report, Hines’ car “failed to stop to avoid a collision.” The report also indicates that alcohol was a contributing factor in the two-vehicle wreck.
Fortunately, no firefighters were injured in the collision.
The Lynwood auto accident is still under investigation by local authorities. No other details concerning the crash were immediately made available.
