Los Angeles Car Accident Claims the Lives of Local Couple

A Los Angeles car accident involving a Los Angeles Police Department patrol car claims the life of a local couple after the couple’s car was struck by a vehicle being pursued by the patrol car. The incident took place just before midnight on New Year’s Eve, Friday, December 31, 2010, at the intersection of Florence Avenue and Crenshaw Boulevard.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the incident started when the police began chasing a white Geo Prism that ran a red light at Ness Avenue near Florence Avenue. The Prism then ran another red light at Florence and Crenshaw and slammed into an Infiniti, which was heading southbound on Crenshaw.

The force of the impact caused the Infiniti to roll over and slam into a pole. The driver of the Infinity, Demetria Dorsey, 50, and her husband, Kelvin Dorsey, 54, both of Los Angeles, lost their lives as a result of the crash. Investigators report that the couple was returning home from a New Year’s Eve party when the incident occurred.

The driver of the Prism has been identified as Jorge Alberto Molina, 27, of Culver City. Police report that Mr. Molina was driving under the influence of alcohol and have charged him with two counts of murder.

The fatal Los Angles car accident is still under investigation by local authorities.
