Lake Elsinore Bicycle Accident Claims the Life of a Teenager

A Lake Elsinore bicycle accident involving a car claims the life of a teenager after his bike was struck by a car. The incident took place at approximately 8:00 PM on Friday evening, January 14, 2011, near the intersection of Riverside Drive and Collier.

According to reports, a 13-year-old boy was riding his bike westbound along Riverside Drive, just west of Collier Avenue, when he was struck by a westbound car while attempting to cross the road. The teenager sustained a major head injury and was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

Emergency crews shut down the road across all lanes for several hours to allow police to investigate the accident. It was re-opened at approximately 1:45 AM.

The fatal Lake Elsinore bicycle accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Investigators report that the unidentified driver was cooperating fully with officers. There was no initial indication as to what caused the car to hit the bike.
