Accidents Reported in Southern California

Laguna Niguel Car Accident Leaves Cop Behind Bars

A Laguna Niguel car accident involving two vehicles leaves an Orange County Sheriff’s deputy behind bars after he slams into a Toyota. The incident took place on Monday, March 1, 2010.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Deputy Allan James Waters, crashed his 2008 Mercedes-Benz into a Toyota while driving under the influence. The force of the impact caused the two vehicles to slam into a tree.

It was unclear as to whether Waters or the elderly couple in the Toyota were injured in the two-vehicle wreck.

It was also learned that Waters was involved in an earlier wreck on Golden Lantern in Dana Point. According to reports, Waters was involved in a collision outside of Dana Point City Hall with a Lexus.  There were no injuries reported in this crash.

Waters is a 13-year veteran with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department. However, he was on paid administrative leave when the accident occurred. It was unclear as to why Waters was on this leave.

Both accidents are still under investigation by local authorities. Waters has been sent to county jail and charged with driving under the influence.

These are unfortunate accidents and we wish all the victims involved in the wrecks a speedy recovery.
