Deadly Coronado Car Accident

A Coronado car accident involving at least two vehicles results in the death of an elderly man after the car he was a passenger in collides with another vehicle. The incident took place at approximately 2:00 PM on Wednesday afternoon, April 20, 2010, along the Silver Strand Highway.

The male victim has been identified as Stevens Friedman, 95, of Coronado. According to the county Medical Examiner’s Office, Friedman was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident. It is believed that he was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash; however, rescue crews were required to use special equipment to extricate him from the vehicle.

Rescue crews transported three other victims to nearby hospitals where they were treated for injuries, according to police spokesperson Lea Corbin. Their conditions and identities were not made available.

The fatal Coronado accident is still under investigation by local authorities. There were no other details concerning the accident and police are still trying to determine what happened and who was at fault.
