Child Bicycle Safety: Topic of Day at Bike Rodeo in Santa Monica

Posted on Apr 26, 2011

The Santa Monica Dispatch recently reported that the city will hold a Bike Rodeo for children on May 7th at the Temescal Canyon Beach Parking Lot from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Hosted by a non-profit organization called Safe Moves, Bike Rodeo will teach kids all about bicycle safety and safe riding skills. Geared towards kids between the ages of five and twelve, the event is free.
However, there is a charge if you decide to park in the lot.

Safe Moves will also have a drawing to give away a bicycle and helmet, and the importance of wearing a helmet while riding will be a big topic of the day.

Parents can RSVP for their kids by contacting Kara Seward at 310.314.5214 or Kara.Seward@sen.ca.gov.

According to the National Highway Traffic and Safety Administration, there are over 13,000 bicycle-related injuries annually among U.S. children under the age of fifteen.

Our Santa Monica child bicycle accident lawyers love to see events take place that focus on educating kids, because, unfortunately, the attorneys at Steinberg & Spencer see on a regular basis the horrific impact that a bike accident can have on a child and his or her family.

If you are dealing with such a tragedy, get the help you need by calling an experienced attorney at Steinberg & Spencer at 800.350.8888 or by filling out our online form.
