Accidents Reported in Southern California

California’s Teen Safe Driving Week focuses on distracted driving car accidents.

Posted on Mar 22, 2011

Our Southern California car accident injury lawyers were pleased to see Riverside's Press-Enterprise newspaper report on California's Teen Safe Driving Week.

According to the article, the topic of discussion in a series of state-wide functions and seminars sponsored by the California State Highway Patrol was distracted driving amongst California teenagers and the devastating car accidents that it can cause.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report that car accidents are the leading cause of death among teenagers, and the increased popularity of cell phones has only increased that statistic.

California's Teen Safe Driving Week not only recognized texting behind the wheel as distracted driving, but also loud music, eating or drinking while driving, having too many passengers, and even chewing bubble gum. The State of California wants new drivers to know that taking your attention off of the road for a mere second can cause an accident.

In light of this important week, the car accident lawyers at Steinberg & Spencer urge parents to talk to their teens about safe driving, and even offer families a free report on the subject, entitled Distracted Teen Driving - A Guide and Contract for Parents.
