California is ranked in the Top 8 for most expensive auto insurance in the USA, according to a recent article by Auto-Types.com.
The article states that Californians are paying nearly $2,000 per year for car insurance on 2001 models. A main reason for the high cost is the fact that as many as 15% of California drivers drive without auto insurance. Uninsured California car accident injuries cost more, and drive up the premiums of all drivers in the state.
That is just one reason why it is imperative for all drivers to add uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage onto their auto policies. The cost to add these has little effect on the overall cost of the premium, and can save you thousands of dollars in the event that you are struck by a driver who does not have insurance.
Michigan has the highest insurance premiums in the United States, and it is closely followed by Louisiana, Oklahoma, Montana, Washington D.C., Mississippi, and New Mexico.
