As a part of California's Motorcycle Awareness Month, the California Highway Patrol (CHP) is asking motorists to safely share the road with bikers, according to an article in the Cerritos-Artesia Patch.
The article discusses CHP data that found that 396 people were killed and over 11,000 were injured in motorcycle-related crashes in 2009. And sadly, almost 97% of those killed were the motorcycle riders.
By encouraging all drivers on the road to stay extra alert and keep an eye out for bikers, the CHP hopes to reduce the number of California motorcycle crashes and fatalities.
The motorcycle accident lawyers at Steinberg & Spencer urge drivers to always double-check before changing lanes and to keep a safe distance from motorcycles.
