The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention just released a new report that found that U.S. motor vehicle-related crashes result in $41 billion in medical bills and work loss costs each year. According to the report, around 30,000 people die in car accidents annually throughout the United States. California car accident injuries cost a whopping $4.16 billion per year.
The report goes on to provide information on how that amount relates to the age of the California driver. Not surprisingly, young adults account for $1.84 billion of the annual costs. The CDC recommends that the best way to save money is to prevent crashes by using sobriety checkpoints, graduated drivers licensing laws, and ignition interlocks for those drivers who have been convicted of driving under the influence.
