Boyle Heights Car Accident Claims 2 Lives, Including Baby

Posted on Nov 09, 2010

A Boyle Heights car accident involving a single vehicle claims the lives of two people, including a newborn girl, after a man intentionally slams his vehicle into the Los Angeles home where the mother and daughter were sleeping. The incident took place late Tuesday night, November 2, 2010.

According to Deputy Chief Kirk Albanese, a 21-year-old man deliberately drove his Cadillac Escalade into the bedroom where his girlfriend and newborn baby were sleeping. The driver has been identified as Eduardo Villareal.

Rescue crews pronounced the 19-year-old mother dead at the scene of the accident. The couple’s baby was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Detectives report that the couple had an argument just minutes before the accident. Villareal allegedly told police that he was only trying to kill himself and did not intend to harm anyone else. He was also taken to the hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Reports indicate that there were approximately twelve other people in the home at the time of the accident.

The Boyle Heights car accident is still under investigation by local authorities. Villareal has been charged with two counts of murder.

This is a horrific tragedy and we would like to extend our thoughts and condolences to the victim’s family and friends during this difficult time.
