• The insurance company contacts you. Once you sign a contract with a lawyer, the firm notifies the insurance company that all correspondence should go through the attorney from that point forward. • You change doctors. If you happen to switch physicians for any reason, contact the firm. Medical records and the corresponding bills will be ordered on your behalf, but if your attorney is unaware that you are seeing a different doctor, then he or she will be unable to submit those bills to the insurance company.
• You speak with the other driver or witnesses. If the other driver or witnesses to the accident contact you, do not discuss your case. Just like with the insurance adjustors, politely instruct the individual to contact your lawyer, and then give the attorney a heads up about the situation.
