Malibu Car Accident Involves Oxnard Teen

A Malibu car accident involving two vehicles leaves one person dead after an Oxnard teen crosses the center divider and slams into another vehicle. The unfortunate incident took place at approximately 5:00 PM on Friday afternoon, April 2, 2010, along Pacific Coast Highway (PCH).

According to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Lt. Scott Chew, David Corona, 19, of Oxnard, was traveling westbound on PCH when he crossed the center divider and broadsided another westbound car making a left turn onto Broad Beach Road. Rescue crews transported Corona to a nearby hospital where he was treated for injuries sustained in the accident.

The unidentified driver of the second vehicle was killed as a result of the collision. The victim was identified as a 43-year-old Santa Monica resident.

According to investigators, Corona told police that he fell asleep at the wheel. Chew indicated that no charges were filed as of yet.

Car accidents involving fatigued drivers can be serious. They can lead to catastrophic injuries leaving victims to answer tough questions such as who will take care of them and their families, as well as how will they pay for the mounting medical expenses.
