Deadly Bakersfield Truck Accident Being Investigated

Large trucks can weigh up to 80,000 pounds, making a collision with one of these vehicles potentially deadly.  There are many factors associated with semi truck accidents, but there is one commonality between these collisions – the devastation that results.  A California truck accident can cause life-altering injuries.

A recent Bakersfield truck accident illustrates the immense dangers posed by these crashes.  The truck crash took place in the morning hours of Tuesday, February 2, 2010 at the intersection of Pond Road and Highway 43.

The California Highway Patrol reported that a large truck was heading west on Pond Road when it stopped to make a left turn at the intersection of Pond Road and Highway 43.  Apparently, the semi-truck became stuck and couldn’t make the turn.  A box truck that was heading north on Highway 43 couldn’t stop in time and crashed into the semi.  The box truck driver died at the accident scene, as a result of his injuries.  The semi-truck driver was not hurt in the Bakersfield accident. 

Investigators are trying to determine how fast the box truck was traveling when the accident happened.  It was foggy at the time, although weather was not identified as the cause of the wreck.

It is so upsetting to hear of such a tragic event, as this accident.  Our thoughts and condolences go out to the victim’s family.
